Seminar on the Pathbreaking Project <i>Integrated Development of Web- based University Campus Information Systems</i>

On Tuesday, the 22nd of December 2015, a seminar on an important and pathbreaking research project entitled Integrated Development of Web- based University Campus Information Systems was held at the Chemistry Hall of the Faculty of Science at the University of Zakho by Dr. Nawzat Sadiq Ahmed, Head of the Department of Computer Science, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Yaseen Taha Mustafa, Director of the Information and Communication Technology Center at UoZ.

At the beginning of the seminar, Assist. Prof. Dr. Yaseen Taha Mustafa mentioned the success of the University of Zakho at this year's National University Ranking and focused on the importance of a well-functioning website, in order to integrate almost all activities and operations of the University of Zakho and finally to achieve an even better result in upcoming rankings. Furthermore, he requested a better and more fluent cooperation work between the respective departments at the University of Zakho and the Information and Communication Technology Center, which supervises the official website of the university.

Continuing, Dr. Nawzat Sadiq Ahmed briefly introduced the Integrated Development of Web- based University Campus Information Systems Project describing its structure and objectives. The structure of this project involves the following systems:

- Human Resources Management System

- Students Management System

- Learning Management System

- Library Management System

- Research Management System

- Financial Management System

- Documents Management System

- Store Management System

Emphasizing on the importance of this project by changing the paper- based system of the University of Zakho to a computer- based system, Dr. Nawzat Sadiq Ahmed enumerated the advantages of this project, including profitability, accuracy and speed development, time saving, simplicity of work, competitive advantage, and the support of decision makers.

In addition to a number of postgraduate students and lecturers, almost all members of the University Council were present at the seminar, including Assist. Prof. Dr. Lazgin Abdi Jamil, President of the University of Zakho, Prof. Dr. Omar Al-Habib, Vice President for Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate Studies, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abdulhameed Sulaiman, Vice President for Administration and Financial Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Fadhil H. Easif, Dean of the Faculty of Science.

The research project was managed by a team approach, in cooperation between students and academic staff members of the University of Zakho. The management and scientific committee members of this project are Dr. Nawzat Sadiq Ahmed, Assist. Prof. Dr. Yaseen Taha Mustafa, Prof. Dr. Akeela Mustafa Ahmed, and Dr. Miawan Bahjat Abdulrazzaq. The project designers are graduate students from the Department of Computer Science at the University of Zakho. Aiming to enhance the use of web- based university campus information systems among undergraduate and graduate students as well as academic staff members, this project was carefully realized.
